People deserve to have trust and confidence in their government. Our state’s ethics laws are a major issue and urgently need to be addressed. Ethics reform has been one of my top priorities. As Chairman of the Senate Ethics Committee, I’ve seen the need for changes and have worked to accomplish them. I’ve worked to increase the rules of disclosures and worked to require campaigns file their complete bank statements. Right now, I’m fighting for an Ethics Reform bill that puts an end to the dark, untraceable money that flows into our elections, often from out-of-state sources, and corrupts our political system. I will not rest until we protect the integrity and the transparency of South Carolina’s elections.
